ABOUT ME

MY STORY

I was raised by a mother who loved to share the birth story of her three children every year on their birthdays. I know that story by heart. How I unfolded limb by limb into the world. How my wide open eyes made me look shocked to be in this new world. My mother was overjoyed that she had finally, after two sons got her little girl. Maybe it was this image and this story that planted the seed of interest and respect for birth but, I’ve always been fascinated by pregnant women and I’ve always felt confidence and deep belief in the process of childbirth. In my mid-twenties, I learned what a doula was and felt an immediate pull to the work. I took my first Doula training in 2014 through Dona. I attended two births in 2014 & 2015 supporting mothers and their families as a doula.

What is meant for us is not always linear though, is it? I graduated college at Boise State University with a degree in Writing. I worked for a few start ups as a writer, content creator & director of operations. I moved all over the west. A couple years in Seattle, a short stint in Utah, a few years living in a camper on the Kootenai River in Libby, Montana then back to my home state of Idaho to live quietly in the mountains for a while before I finally landed in Joseph, Oregon in 2020 just before the pandemic. I am filled with gratitude that my journey has brought me here to this beautiful place.

I married my husband in 2021 and by February of 2022 we were welcoming our first son. After having River, my passion for birthwork became intensified. Having gone through pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum myself I now have a renewed desire and obligation to support others during this time. My Karmic assignment, if you will.

I am currently in the process of becoming certified as a Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula & Childbirth Educator. My main focus is getting my Traditional Health Worker of Oregon credential so that I can work with families on Oregon Medicaid. I will reach that goal by the end of summer 2024. My deepest hope is that I can help families feel seen and supported in the beautiful chaos that is welcoming a new human to the world. I hope to bring all my life experience and passion to my community by showing up with a full heart to educate, support & hold space.

I am available in Wallowa County & Boise, Idaho.

We have a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s that women are strong.
